Meghalaya (ML) is one of the few Indian states/UTs that does not currently use the central Parivahan portal for fancy number reservations. Based on our check of the official Meghalaya Transport Department site (verified May 2026), Meghalaya does not expose an online fancy/VIP/choice-number booking — reservations are allotted in person at the RTO.
Before opening the Meghalaya Transport Department, narrow down which 4-digit numbers you actually want. Our Meghalaya page shows today’s available pool RTO by RTO, with three ways to filter:
Based on our check of the Meghalaya Transport Department site, Meghalaya does not currently offer an online fancy / VIP / choice-number booking flow. Allotment is handled in person at the Meghalaya RTO.
Fees in Meghalaya are set by the state Transport Department and vary by number category. Premium 4-digit numbers — single-digit sequences (0001, 0009), repeaters (9999, 7777), palindromes (1221), and other auspicious patterns — sit at the highest fee tier; common numbers go at the base rate.
Rather than reprinting a fee table that may go stale, we show the exact rupee fee for each available number directly on each Meghalaya RTO page — sourced from the same official listing that powers the booking flow.
The reservation is valid for a fixed window stated on your receipt. Complete the vehicle’s permanent registration at the same Meghalaya RTO before that date. Bring:

Meghalaya fancy number reservations are not online — they’re allotted in person at the Meghalaya RTO. The Meghalaya Transport Department site lists routine services (registration, driving licence, permits) but not a fancy/VIP/choice-number portal, so plan an office visit to apply.
Fees are set by the Meghalaya state Transport Department and depend on the number’s category. Premium numbers — single digits like 1, 9; repeating patterns like 9999, 7777; palindromes like 1221 — carry the highest fee. Common 4-digit numbers go at the base reservation rate. The exact rupee amounts are listed on the official portal at the time of booking; we surface them on each Meghalaya RTO page as well once the number is shortlisted.
Generally no. Fancy number reservations are tied to the vehicle’s registration RTO, which is determined by your residential address. If you’re moving to Meghalaya and registering the vehicle there for the first time, you can reserve under a Meghalaya RTO; if your vehicle is already registered in another state, you’d need to re-register the vehicle in Meghalaya before applying for a Meghalaya fancy number.
Validity varies by state but is typically a few weeks to a couple of months — long enough to complete the vehicle’s permanent registration but short enough to prevent indefinite hoarding. The exact validity date is on the reservation receipt; missing it forfeits the fee and returns the number to the public pool.
